Luís de Freitas Branco +••.••(...)): Song cycle "A Ideia", with sonnets by Portuguese poet Antero de Quental +••.••(...)). Part 3 of 4: sonnets/songs "Mas a Ideia quem é" and "Outra Amante não há". This cycle was composed between 1937 and February 1943. It had its première in Lisbon, on 24 January 1949, with Arminda Correia (voice) and the composer Fernando Lopes-Graça (piano). These sonnets have been rendered into English, in a translation by Sylvanus Griswold Morley, published in 1922. Sylvanus employed "Ideal" rather than "The Idea", which is a literal translation. In this recording one can listen to the barytone Oliveira Lopes and the pianist Noël Lee.
