Maestro Ino Savini rehearsing Verdi´s Requiem in Prague. Tenor: Gaetano Bardini Soprano: Margaret Tynes Mezzo: Vera Soukupova Bass: Jan Kyzlink Janacek Philharmonie Ostrava (JFO) Conductor: INO SAVINI This is a rare Footage of the Great Italian Conductor Ino Savini (Faenza 1904-95). This rehearsal was filmed in The Cathedral of St.Vitus in Prague the 8 September 1972. The performance was on the 9 September 1972 with a huge success. The video clips were a Super 8,Silent film from the rehearsals, the audio is from the Performance on the 9.9.72. Maestro Alessandro Pagliazzi did the Audio Remastering and the Video-Audio sincronization,including some rare and beautifull Fotos of M° Savini in rehearsal in Ostrava,Prague and Porto. Maestro Savini studied Piano,Organ and Composition with O.Respighi and F.Cilea. He conducted for more that 50 years mainly in Italy,all Europe,South America,with a huge Opera and Symphonic repertoire. Recorded Trovatore,Elisir, Forza and Aida for Supraphon/Fabbri ,Delibes Coppelia for Supraphon Records and the first LP of Mirella Freni in 1959. Conducted the Debuts and the first performances of young singers like Gianni Raimondi,Filippeschi,Valdengo, Protti,Kabaivanska,Cappuccilli,Giacomini,Martinucci,Freni,Nucci,Pavarotti,Maffeo,Pagliazzi and a lot of the great Italian singers like Pagliughi,Galeffi,Lauri-Volpi,Corelli, Simionato,Di Stefano,Poggi, Tagliabue,Pavarotti ( in a wonderfull" I Puritani" with Freni in Bologna 1969) and his Recital for the 15°anniversary of his Carreer in Reggio Emilia in 1976. He conducted Bergonzi, Nilsson, Wixell, Carreras,Gedda and many others soloist like Badura-Skoda and the very first Mozart Concert of the little Maria Joao-Pires in Oporto where M° Savini was Chief Conductor from 1953 to 1956. From 1963 to 1966 was engaged in the Stockholm Opera House conducting the Italian repertoire with tremendous success. Conducted Operas in Teatro Comunale di Bologna and Liceo di Barcellona and also in North America USA , Central America Mexico,Panama,Costa Rica, Portugal, Spain, France,Ireland,England,Sweden, Danmark,Finland, Hungary, Turkey,Germany, Switzerland, Libia (!), Czechoslovakia (Praha National theater). He was active also as composer and did transcriptions of Bach , Albinoni , Gershwin, for great orchestra that he conducted Himself in Ostrava and Oporto. As symphonic conductor conducted the standard classical and romantic repertoire in more than 200 concerts in Oporto, and appeared in Sweden, Italy and was guest conductor in Czechoslovakia, mainly with the Janacek Philharmonie Ostrava - conducting concerts, including the Verdi Requiem in 1967 & 1972 , the Saint-Saens 3 Symphony and Scheherazade, later issued on a live CD Arcadia. One of his favourite pieces was Respighi "I pini di Roma", being himself student of Respighi. He Conducted Operas and Concerts from Memory and had a clear baton technique ad a persuasive temperament.
