Hymel Georges Bizet Staple 1838 1875
Micaëla is one of the most frequently performed soprano roles, which means it takes a lot to make a performance stand out. Irini offers insights into how the music mimics her emotional state as she goes to Don José, and how singing a simple legato in the face of her fear of the unknown can be the most powerful choice a singer can make. Irini Kyriakidou Hymel GIVE YOUR STORY TO THE AUDIENCE | (http•••) Irini Kyriakidou Soprano Educator: University, Conservatory Level Video audience: Sopranos Video language: English Je dis que rien ne m'épouvante Carmen Georges Bizet +••.••(...)) Micaëla, FULL LYRIC SOPRANO, light lyric soprano Aria language: French Description: Soprano Irini Kyriakidou speaks with us about this staple of beautiful soprano repertoire, Micaëla’s aria ‘Je dis que rien ne m’épouvante’ from Act III of Carmen, in a video largely exploring the importance of character and the emotional connection of text to music. We learn about Micaëla’s role in the storytelling of the opera and in relation to Don José and about the challenges of the role both on and off the stage. We then move into the meaning and emotional state of the character in the music that precedes the aria proper. At the piano Irini explores the aria playing and demonstrating, speaking about phrasing and movement, the character of the orchestra, two variations she has experienced in relation to the climax of the aria, and important ideas to keep in mind when returning to the A section. #carmen #carmenopéra #jedisquerien #georgebizet #soprano #lyricsoprano #sopranolife #operaticsoprano #operasoprano #sopranosofinstagram #operasingersofinstagram #opera #operasinger #operasingers #clickcoach #watchuploadlearnsupport #pandemicart #classicalmusic #classical #musician #musicians #musicianlife #musiclife #musiceducation #clickcoachorg #music #musically #musicindustry #musicislife
