The imperial court is a place of opulence and excess, with music, drugs, eunuchs and harems. Two brothers, Dara (Zubin Varla) and Aurangzeb (Sargon Yelda), whose mother’s death inspired the Taj Mahal, are heirs to this Muslim empire. Now they fight ferociously for succession. Tanya Ronder's adaptation of Shahid Nadeem's play Dara is a domestic drama of global consequence, set in 17th-century Mughal India. Nadia Falls directs this 2015 production, filmed live at the National Theatre. It is available for educational establishments to watch with the National Theatre Collection. #NationalTheatreCollection #Dara #NationalTheatre / The National Theatre Collection makes the best of British Theatre available worldwide to libraries, schools, universities and the wider education sector.
