Christian Dawson BMus (Hons), piano www.christiandawson.co.uk Christian has recently graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with a First Class Bachelor of Music Honours degree, having studied piano with Mikhail Kazakevich, Helen Yorke and Douglas Finch. During his time there, Christian made numerous solo and duo recital appearances around London, with venues including Charlton House, Hyde Park Chapel, The Old Royal Naval College Chapel, and at City of London's Guidhall, where he performed to an audience of 700, HRH Princess Anne, Vice-Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence and HRH Prince Michael of Kent. Recent performance highlights include appearances at the 2011 Oxford Lieder Festival, the North West New Music Festival, the Reflections of Debussy Festival at the Bridgewater Hall, the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea, the Manchester Welsh Society and the Machyllneth Festival. Christian is also the current recipient of the Royal Northern College of Music's Clifton Helliwell Memorial Award, and was awarded their William Humphreys Dallas piano prize in 2012. As well as a growing solo repertoire focussing on music of the 19th Century, with a particular emphasis on Franz Liszt, Christian is equally active as an ensemble pianist, and his repertoire for this sector comprises of many songs and cycles by composers including Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Strauss, Mahler, Wagner, Rachmaninov, Korngold, Poulenc, Britten and Stravinsky. Having recently completed his MMus (Hons) Performance (solo piano) degree at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, Christian will continue his studies at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in September 2013. Christian also has an avid interest in teaching, and believes it is vital to inspire his students as much as possible during their lessons in order for teacher and student to strive together for the highest quality results possible. Christian has also participated in numerous masterclasses with internationally renowned artists including Julius Drake, Nelson Goerner, Noriko Ogawa, Steven Osbourne and Stephen Hough.
