Bard College's critically acclaimed Music Festival enters its final weekend -- Beyond Verismo -- this Thursday, as performers present their final exploration of Italian opera in Giacomo Puccini and His World . The closing weekend's highlights include Friday night's Futurism, Popular Culture, and Technology , which addresses modernity's influence on turn of the century Italian composers such as Francesco Pratella and Luigi Russolo.

Likewise, Stockhausen experimented with fusion of acoustic and electronic sounds. As Stirling noticed in the interview, a lot of people tend to think that her style is unmarketable, and the only reason why she succeed is because she stayed true to herself. Along with other experimental musicians like Luigi Russolo and Ornette Coleman, she was more interested in the process, than final result of the product. According to John Cage, “Music is all around us.” Lindsey Stirling supports this idea in the song “Elements”; She took everyday sounds of nature and transmitted them through the violin, by expressing the feeling of the four main elements. Irish Composer Judith Ring has received commissions from ensembles including Concorde, Crash Ensemble, Trio Scordatura and Percusemble as well as composing a series of works with performers such as singer Natasha Lohan, clarinetist Paul Roe, percussionist Damien Harron and pianist Rolf Hind. Her works have also been used in works by the Dance Theatre of Ireland. Her piece ‘Accumulation’ won first prize in the 2000 Concorso Internazionale Luigi Russolo in Varese, Italy, and was subsequently performed in Dublin, Belfast and at EXPO 2000 in Hannover, Germany. She has written music for two short films, and she co-composed music for video artist Clare Langan’s work ‘Glass Hour’. The work was exhibited at the Tate Liverpool, RHA Dublin and MoMa New York.
